# Brawling

This Weapon Skill is a broad umbrella that applies to fisticuffs, wrestling, using knives, daggers, and other items at Close Quarters or Contact distances (see Melee Distances), as well as all Brawling Combat actions and improvised weapons (see below).

# Brawling Weapons Table

Weapon Weapon Skill Mounted/Unmounted Damage Advantage Disadvantage
Dagger Brawling Both Brawling + 2D6 None None
Seax Brawling Unmounted Brawling + 2D6 Parry + 1 Broken by a sword on a tie

# Dagger

The dagger is a double-edged knife with a sharp point used mainly for stabbing and thrusting. Knights typically wear it and use it as a weapon of last resort in combat.

# Seax

A large, cheaply-made, single-edged knife popular among the Saxons, who derived their name from this weapon. It is often the secondary weapon for a Saxon warrior and not available outside Saxon lands, unless taken as war booty.

Improvised weapons

Not all objects wielded in combat are designed for such use. Nevertheless, the desperate combatant may, from time to time, find need of a handy (and suitably deadly) instrument with which to defend themselves, ranging from rocks and branches to farming implements and even furniture like stools and benches!

All such implements use the Brawling Skill for melee Actions and the Thrown Weapon Skill for missile attacks.

Improvised weapons deal Brawling Damage +1D6 (one-handed) or Brawling +2D6 (two-handed). Thrown items may only be hurled out to short missile range if light, or long melee distance if heavy. Light items do 1D6 Damage, and heavy items deal 2D6.
