# 3. Traits and Passions

Your character’s Traits and Passions are the heart of what differentiates them from the other knights of Britain. Match the template you generated in Step Two on the Traits and Passions Table to find your base values, then adjust by religion, as appropriate.

Adjust the Traits according to your knight’s religion as follows:

  • Christian knights add +3 to are Chaste, Forgiving, Merciful, Modest, Spiritual, and Temperate.
  • Pagan knights add +3 to Lustful, Energetic, Generous, Honest, Proud, and Spiritual.

All Trait pairs must tally up to 20, so be sure to reduce the value of each Trait opposite to that which you increase by three. (For example, raising Chaste by three points reduces Lustful by three points—and vice versa!)

Note that we assume you are playing a knight from Salisbury, which gives you a Hate (Saxons) Passion with a value of 1D6+6. Knights from other parts of Britain may have a different Passion in its place, or you may instead distribute the points to other Passions (maximum of 15 in any) with the Gamemaster’s permission.
